6.270 is the MIT’s LEGO Robot Design Competition Project. In 6.270 students receive a kit containing LEGO parts, electronics, sensors, batteries,
motors, and wire, and have one month to design, build, and debug an
autonomous robot. Inspired by MIT’s similar Mechanical Design course, 2.70,
the LEGO Robot Design Competition differs in that students must create
fully autonomous (i.e., controlled by on board computer) robots. In the
Mech. E. course, students control their robots using joysticks.
I was in 1996 6.270 “Robo-Ant” LEGO Robot Design Contest. I and my teammates Sonya Raskhodnikova and Edik Kogan built the robot named “Muravey” (Russian for ‘ant’). Our Robot placed fourth in the competition losing only to the first and second place winners. Here is the nice picture of four of us after the contest.
